Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information the UDojo app and udojoapp.com handle, and how. UDojo is designed to be minimal: no accounts on our own servers, no ads shown inside the app, no sale of personal data, and no cross-app tracking of your identity. Section 2 below describes the limited, privacy-preserving data used to measure the performance of our own ad campaigns.
1. Who we are

2. Information the app handles
Profile you enter
Your first name, last name, optional nickname, and optionally a phone number and email address. This profile is stored locally on your device. Your visible name travels with the content you share (for example, as the author of a message or in an attendance record) so classmates and teachers know who is who.
Class data
When a Teacher creates a class, its details (name, type, schedule, meeting point, invitation code, requested student fields) are stored in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) infrastructure so Students can join and stay in sync. Messages, class rosters, attendance records, and the files and photos shared in a class are stored the same way. This information is visible to the members of the class it belongs to; the invitation code is what grants access, so share it only with the people you want in your class.
Files and photos
Teachers and Students can share files (up to 20 MB each) and photos in a class. They are uploaded to Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) together with the file name, the sharer's visible name, the date and the size, and are visible to the members of that class. Photos are compressed before uploading. UDojo only receives the items you choose with the iOS photo and file pickers: it never reads the rest of your photo library or your files, and it does not ask for photo-library permission. Please do not share anything you would not want everyone in the class to see.
Your iCloud account identifier
CloudKit attaches to each item an opaque identifier of the iCloud account that created it. UDojo uses it only to recognize which messages, files and photos are yours (so you can delete them), to apply a Teacher's moderation actions, and to hide content from people you choose to hide. It is not your Apple Account email or name.
Reports and hidden people
If you report a message, file or photo, your mail app prepares an email to [email protected] with the class name and code, the reported content, its author's visible name and an item identifier; nothing is sent unless you send that email. The list of people you hide is stored only on your device, and you can undo it in Settings.
Purchases
The one-time class-creation purchase is processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. UDojo never sees or stores your payment details.
AI Assistant
The optional AI Assistant runs entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence (Apple's Foundation Models). Your requests are processed locally and are never sent to UDojo's servers or to any third party.
Advertising attribution
We run install ad campaigns to help people discover UDojo. To measure whether those campaigns work, the app includes Meta's (Facebook's) advertising SDK, which can share a device identifier and basic app-interaction data (app opens, and whether the install followed one of our ads) with Meta for advertising and analytics purposes. This data is not linked to your name, profile, or any content inside your classes, and it is not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites: UDojo does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). Attribution relies on Apple's SKAdNetwork and Meta's Aggregated Event Measurement, both privacy-preserving frameworks that report campaign performance in aggregate. You can review or reset how apps use this kind of data in your device's Settings, and Meta's own use of it is described in Meta's Privacy Policy.
3. Device permissions
- Camera — only to scan attendance and invitation QR codes. Images are processed on the device and never stored or uploaded.
- Microphone & speech recognition — only if you use voice search for locations. Audio is processed for transcription and not stored by us.
- Photos and files — only the specific items you pick with the iOS photo and file pickers. The app does not request access to your photo library.
- Location (while using the app) — only to center the map and let a Teacher set the class meeting point. We do not track your location in the background.
All permissions are optional and requested in context; the app works without them, with reduced features.
4. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
- We do not show ads inside the app.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). For install campaigns we rely on Apple's SKAdNetwork and Meta's Aggregated Event Measurement, privacy-preserving frameworks that report only aggregated, anonymous attribution — never your identity. See "Advertising attribution" above for details on the one third-party SDK we use for this.
5. Retention and deletion
- Delete a class — Teachers can delete a class from Edit Class. The class and everything the Teacher shared in it (messages, files, photos and attendance records) are deleted from the cloud right away; what each Student shared is deleted the next time that Student opens the app. You can also email us to request removal.
- Delete your own content — you can delete your own messages, files and photos at any time from within the app.
- Teacher moderation — a Teacher can remove any message, file or photo from their own class. Removed items disappear for everyone right away; the stored copy is cleaned up the next time its author opens the app, or on request by email.
- Erase my data — in Settings, "Erase my data from this device" removes your local profile, classes and saved answers from the device.
- Cloud content — attendance records you contributed remain part of the class record while the class exists; to request removal of specific cloud content, email us and we will assist within a reasonable time.
6. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age of digital consent). Minors may use it only with parental or guardian consent, typically in a school or academy context managed by their Teacher. Parents or guardians can contact us at any time to request the removal of a minor's information.
7. Security
Cloud data is stored on Apple's iCloud infrastructure, protected by Apple's security measures and accessed through your device's iCloud session. No system is perfectly secure; please use judgment about what you share in a class room, and share invitation codes only with intended participants.
8. International users
Apple may process iCloud data in data centers located in different countries under its own safeguards. By using the Service you acknowledge this processing.
9. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Most of these can be exercised directly in the app (edit profile, delete class, erase data); for anything else, email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy; the date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be indicated through the Service or this website.
